Top 10 Excuses For Not Attending

Dear Fellow Classmates,

We are less than two weeks away from our 30th High School Class Reunion. I can't wait!! But I have a couple of questions for you. Are you coming? If not, why not? Here are the Top Ten Reasons classmates are giving for not attending:

10. It's so FAR to travel.
Over half of our class continues to live in the great state of South Carolina, and a majority of them in our beloved hometown of Camden. So, for you South Carolinians you are only a two hour or less drive away. No excuse. For you out-of-staters it's time for a long overdue visit back to Camden.

9. It cost too much.
The early purchase price of $40/person has been extended till 11 June. So go to our website, www.CamdenHigh1981.com, and update your profile, and sign up to attend.

8. I can't get away.
We all have busy lives - work, spouse, kids, house, yard work, kids activities, spring cleaning, the list goes on and on. I say to you busy bodies, it's not every year you get to celebrate your 30th year high school reunion. So, get your stuff done and get on out.

7. I don't have any place to stay if I come.
If you don't have family staying in Camden and don't want to impose upon any of your friends then check out Comfort Inn and Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Bloomsbury Inn B&B, Camden House B&B, or Colony Inn. Heck, if push comes to shove my parents have two extra bedrooms.

6. My spouse or significant other wouldn't enjoy themselves.
Your other half, or better half, will enjoy meeting your high school buds and learning about all the stupid things you did while in high school. Besides, when planning the reunion I try and make sure that those who are not our classmates are going to have a great time. Just ask your significant other (if they attended with you for the 10th or 20th reunion) if they had a good time last time.

5. I don't want to come by myself.
No fear. Because once you get to the reunion you won't be alone any longer. Or heck, find a date to bring from Match.com. Facebook may also help you find a date.

4. I'm not that close to any of my classmates.
Reunions are times to reminisce and renew ties with 'old' classmates. No matter if you were a part of a group or just kept to yourself during high school, these are the ones that you experienced 4 (or 5) years with on Friday nights at Zemp Stadium.

3. I don't know what to wear.
Clothes.

2. No one will recognize me.
Don't sweat it. Your name tag will have both your high school name and picture.

1. I've gained weight since high school.
Two thoughts: 1) We have all gained weight since high school. And 2) You still a little time to join Jenny Craig or spend time at Gold's Gym.

So, I ask you again — what you waiting for? Remember we aren't getting any younger. Thirty years is a long time. Thank God He has blessed us to see 2011. So, there is no time like the present. You can sign up on the website, or at least update your profile, or if you have any questions feel free to call me at 719-338-8665 or email me at GregVonW@aol.com.
